The programme caters to both consumer needs and technological advancement and covers crucial relationships between aesthetics, form and function and the technology of production.

The aim of the course is to give students the opportunity to study a wide range of design processes and to develop their technical skills and problem solving sensibilities in order to produce innovative design ideas and solutions for small and large scale industrial production.

Students of this programme study a wide range of topics such as design development, materials and processes, manufacturing technology, presentation and communication skills, design rendering and sketching techniques, ergonomics, marketing

Consumer Product Designer, CAD Designer, R&D Manager, Sales Designer, Automotive Designer, Industrial Designer, Product Merchandiser etc

Entry Requirement

  • SPM / SPMV / O-Level / Equivalent: Pass with a minimum of 3 credits / Grade-C in any subjects and pass in Art Education; or 
  • UEC: Pass with minimum Grade B in 3 subjects; or
  • Pass certificate in related field with a minimum CGPA 2.0; or
  • SKM: Pass in Level 3 in Art and Design and pass SPM / equivalent with a minimum of 1 credit in any subject; or
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government.


Pass in an internal interview or/and drawing test
(for students who have not taken Visual Arts Education)


International students must pass:
  • IELTS Band 4; or
  • TOEFL with a minimum score of 397; or
  • Cambridge/Edexcel GCE A-Levels; or                                                                       
  • MUET minimum band 2
