BTEC Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

This course is aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge required for careers as in mechanical engineering at senior technical or supervisory level. The programme provides students with a broad engineering knowledge base in mechanical and production engineering technologies which are rapidly developing and highly sought after by employers.

The focus of all modules is on industrial applications, ranging from basic design engineering, energy & power, mechanical systems, modelling & simulation and professional skills development. A major project gives students valuable experience in designing a system which covers a selection of materials, circuits and devices, costing, standards and safety aspects.

Main Intakes
The main intakes are conducted in December (Short semester), March (Long semester) and July (Long semester) of each year.

Entry Requirements

Any one of the following qualifications:

  1. Pass STPM / GCE ‘A’ Levels with 1 relevant principal, including Mathematics or ONE (1) Science subject:
    a) Mathematics S
    b) Mathematics T
    c) Further Mathematics
    d) Physics
    with a pass in Mathematics, English and ONE (1) relevant Science / Technical / Vocational subject at SPM level;

  2. Pass relevant Foundation / Matriculation programme from institutions recognized by Malaysian Government with CGPA ≥ 2.0*;
  3. Pass relevant Certificate in Engineering / Engineering Technology / Vocational / Technical / Skills from Polytechnics recognized by Malaysia Government with ONE (1) year of relevant work experience or ONE (1) semester of a Bridging Programme*;
  4. Other equivalent qualifications recognized by Malaysian Government*;

English Language Requirements (For international students only)
All international students from a country in which English is not used as the medium of instruction in formal education are required to meet the following English language requirements:

  1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum score of 550 (PBT) or 213 (CBT) or 79 – 80 (iBT)
  2. International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum overall Band 6.
  3. Malaysian University English Test (MUET) : minimum Band 6.

The test must be taken no more than two years before the start of your studies at Legenda.
