Linton University College’s 13th Convocation Ceremony

31st October 2017; Marriott, Putrajaya - Linton University College celebrated its 13th Convocation ceremony last Tuesday with the theme “Every end is a new beginning” - and so it was for 862 graduates of Linton University College and its affiliated institutes - Pertama Institute of Technology (ITP), Jati Institute and International Institute of Science Mantin (IASM), who collected their scrolls, marking the completion of their undertaken tertiary education.

A total of 306 graduates were international students from 23 different countries. Out of this 10 graduated with Master’s degree, 403 with Bachelor’s Degree, 4 with Higher National Diploma (HND), 444 with Diplomas, and 1 with a certificate. 218 of the 403 were conferred with first and second class upper honours in their Bachelor’s Degree. Special Vice Chancellor Awards were also presented to 8 outstanding students.

Celebrating Linton’s 13th Convocation upon which marks also the anniversary of Linton’s move to the Mantin Campus back in 2005, the Vice Chancellor of Linton, Dr. Kamis Awang, in his speech, congratulated the graduates and their loved ones for marking this milestone in their lives. He then advised the graduates on their choices in this vast economic world that is undergoing a fundamental transformation with the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution, which alters the way one lives, works and relates to one another.

Dr Kamis also emphasised in his speech to the graduates on the importance of always preparing themselves for a competitive world and to never stop learning no matter how old they’ve become. With that message he proceeded with the announcement of the ALUMNI Bursary which Linton University College is offering to its graduates to pursue furthering their studies to Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.

He brings this announcement with a touch of excitement as Linton undergoes its major transformation through refurbishments of its teaching and laboratory blocks. The management is proud to present the new Linton - Modernity Amidst Nature, as they bring-in the lush greenery that Linton is surrounded with in Mantin, into its very own campus space. Each faculty is upgraded with modern facilities to smoothly aid the educational needs of the 21st century and a unique theme for each faculty to lure creativity, passion, and desire for learning and teaching in an environment that is top-class. It’s Linton again only NEWER and BETTER as the slogan goes with the ALUMNI BURSARY announcement at the convocation last Tuesday.

Amongst the VIPs who graced the 13th Convocation Ceremony was Pertama Institute of Technology’s former and present UK Collaborated Universities representatives who were Mr. Dominic Ramsden representing the Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Beckett University, Ms. Barbara Howell representing the Vice- Chancellor of Coventry University and Dr. Lisa Mooney Alexis representing the Vice-Chancellor of the University of East London. Mr. Ken Choong of Pearson Qualifications International and officials from several embassies were also present.

It is with pride and honour that Linton University College and its Affiliated Institutes congratulate their students as they step out into the world and grab the opportunities that come their way. The event started at 9.30am and ended at 12.30pm with a photography session and lunch.
